Hidden Cove STEAM Academy, located in San Antonio, TX, offers a forward-thinking learning environment grounded in STEAM principles.The school’s mission is to deliver an innovative educational experience that meets the needs of modern learners. Their vision—Encourage Innovation, Embrace Non-Traditional Learning, and Elevate Student Outcomes—aligns closely with VentureLab’s mission to cultivate entrepreneurial mindsets from a young age.
During the final six weeks of the 2023–2024 school year, over 100 students in the gifted program at Hidden Cove participated in VentureLab’s Idea to Pitch program. The custom implementation supported K–2 learners with hands-on activities three days a week, while upper elementary students met once weekly. VentureLab adapted to scheduling needs throughout the program, ensuring all students had meaningful experiences.

Unique Program Features: In-School Schedule and Student Video
Over 100 elementary students in gifted programs at Hidden Cove’s participated in VentureLab’s Idea to Pitch program. VentureLab created a custom schedule, adjusting it as needed throughout the year. The program featured engaging activities, sparked student innovation, evident in their imaginative ideas and video projects.
Student Impact
Students shared their reflection in anonymous post-program surveys. They shared how much they enjoyed working together, using their imaginations, and creating products from random objects. Students also reported an increase in entrepreneurial mindsets and skills, with a notable increased interest in STEM.

Conclusion
Principal Anna Sexton’s leadership was key in bringing entrepreneurship education to Hidden Cove. Though she has now transitioned to McNair Middle School, her support of the Idea to Pitch program continues—she introduced it to McNair’s gifted education team for the 2024–2025 school year.
