Entrepreneurs observe, identify, and act to solve problems. They get a lot of ideas for new businesses by thinking about how they could change things and how they could make life better for people. We call this opportunity seeking!
In this activity, students will use their five senses and focus on what’s going on around them, then make inferences to find opportunities and offer creative solutions.
Entrepreneurs think about people’s feelings and needs and keep those in mind when solving problems. We call this empathy.
Think outside the box to find creative solutions to challenges with reverse brainstorming! This isn’t your normal brainstorming technique: instead of solving a problem, you make it worse!
Entrepreneurs are hopeful about their ideas and making changes that help others. We call this optimism. This week’s activities help show us how optimism helps us succeed!
In this activity, students will practice actively observing and empathizing while viewing an image. They will then come up with a problem, as well as a product or service that might help solve that problem. Then it will be their turn to try it on their own!
This week’s activities help show us how our brains can grow with practice and persistence!
Is the glass half empty or half full? Thinking about the answers to this question teaches us about how entrepreneurs use observation and inference.
This week’s activities inspire us to think about what motivates us and our strengths.
The observation challenge asks us to complete a simple observation task but reveals a much bigger surprise about our ability to actively take in the world around us!
The Idea Journal is a place for youth to show their creativity outwardly: doodle, decorate, color, and design the Idea Journal any way you like.
